Merritt’s 1st Birthday Party!

Our lives were forever changed a year ago when we brought our sweet daughter into the world and this weekend we got to celebrate her all weekend. We started on Thursday with a trip to the zoo to celebrate her actual birthday.

On Friday and Saturday we finished last minute details and started decorating for her party. I knew for months that I wanted to do a golf theme. Her birthday was during Master’s weekend so what better way to celebrate than with a preppy golf theme. I started planning in February the menu, decorations and invitation. I used my party planning check list to make sure all the details were covered.

With working full time and the craziness of life I only had time to work on her party after she went to bed so I put together a plan and timeline as to when I wanted things completed.

I started with the invitation and let that set the theme. I like to have invitations sent at least 3 weeks before the party to allow time for RSVPs.

Then I started planning the menu. I decided to choose foods that I could use a play on words to incorporate the golf theme. It was a good mix of foods that the adults and kids would enjoy.

I gave myself a couple of weeks to start putting the decorations together. I designed all the flags, food cards and centerpieces. On the screened in porch (aka the 19th Hole) we had the tournament playing, after all that is where the inspiration for the party.

Last to come together was the activities for the kiddos. I knew we would have around 10 kids under the age of 4, so we needed lots of things to keep them busy. I set up a miniature golf course with a Pro Shop that offered clubs, drinks, snack and sunscreen. For the little ones I set up a separate area for them to play.

We are so thankful for this past year and all of our family and friends that came to celebrate Merritt’s 1st Birthday
